... a recording studio. If you were hoping for a bar joke, I promise, this is better.
On 25 September, we’re launching The Wobbly Middle, a podcast about women reinventing their careers.
Susannah and I meet with 8 incredibly generous women to hear how they pivoted careers in midlife to become FemTech innovators, recruitment revolutionaries, multi-exit entrepreneurs and award winning photographers.
First up are Susanne Hooper and Melanie Hacking: two super docs helping women navigate their hormonal highways (or as I like to think of them, vicious switch backs travelled at night with no lights and a driver who has been in said bar). Susanne and Melanie tell us how they took a sharp right turn in their own careers founding the Oxford Hormone Clinic when they couldn’t find anywhere to refer their young, sub-fertile patients who were being slammed by the perimenopause.
The series also features some of the UK’s most influential advocates for women in business (who have also pivoted) including the unstoppable Debbie Wosskow OBE who gives us a product development masterclass; and Baroness Helena Morrissey on her mission to develop women’s careers in investment management.
The Trailer
At the heart of The Wobbly Middle
It is a palpable feeling in any gathering of women in our lives. Our girlfriends are emerging from those early child raising years where their careers took a backseat and are asking “What am I going to do next?”. They’re smart, experienced and interested but have no appetite to continue in, or return to their old roles and unsustainable ways of working.
Through The Wobbly Middle, we’re having conversations about how women in midlife can channel their expertise into something new. We’re looking for answers to the swirling questions: “What can I do now? And how do I even start?”
It’s a conversation about the shape of women’s careers and how the middle is brimming with potential. We want women to recognise the potential within themselves to innovate, to seek out fulfilling working lives (which will look different for each of us).
If like us, you’re exploring how to get from here to there during the wobbly middle of life, please listen on Substack or wherever you get your podcasts. New episode every two every weeks.
Good luck to us all xxx
